Custom Pallets
When standard sizes don't work — bespoke pallet solutions for unusual loads and specialist industries.
When Do You Need a Custom Pallet?
Most businesses can work with standard Australian (1165 × 1165 mm) or Euro (1200 × 800 mm) pallets. Custom pallets are warranted when: the load is unusually heavy (over 2,000 kg), the product has unusual dimensions that overhang standard pallets excessively, or the operating environment requires specific material properties.
Common custom pallet applications include: heavy machinery (requiring steel or reinforced timber frames), stone and ceramic products (requiring extra-low platforms), cylindrical loads (requiring cradle frames), and archival storage (requiring acid-free or specific-material platforms).
Custom Pallet Materials
Hardwood timber — the most common custom pallet material, can be cut and assembled to any dimension. Metal (steel) — for extreme load requirements or long-term reuse applications. Plastic — custom moulded or fabricated plastic for specific hygienic or chemical-resistance requirements. Composite — mix of materials for specific strength-to-weight requirements.
Minimum Order Quantities
Custom pallet manufacturers typically require minimum orders of 50–200 pallets for timber and 500–1,000+ for plastic moulded pallets. Costs are significantly higher per unit than standard pallets. Lead times range from 2–8 weeks depending on complexity and material.
Finding Custom Pallet Manufacturers in Australia
Most capital cities have at least one specialist custom timber pallet manufacturer. For plastic custom pallets, suppliers are fewer — most are based in NSW, VIC or QLD. Search PalletFinder for custom pallet suppliers in your state.
